What is Bacteguard?

Bacteguard is an antimicrobial product protection that helps you prepare cleaner and fresher foods and provides you with a longer lasting cutting board that saves you time and money.

Bacteguard is an antimicrobial additive to protect the cutting board from discoloration, odor, staining, biofilm formation and material degradation. It is a silver based antimicrobial compound that inhibits the growth of certain microorganisms.

Microorganisms include specific types of viruses, fungi, algae, and bacteria.

Bacteguard is proven to be non-toxic and safe for everyday applications. It has no known reaction with other additives.

How does Bacteguard work?

Microorganisms attack the surface of the cutting board and can result in discoloration, staining, odor, biofilm formation, cross contamination and, eventually deterioration of the product, increased maintenance or reduced service life of the cutting board.* Bacteguard is based on a technology that slowly releases silver ions as the cutting board is gradually moistened. These silver ions provide a zone of inhibition by interacting with the microorganisms to prevent them from reproducing on the plastic surface. This slow, regulated release provides long lasting effectiveness throughout the life of the cutting board.

Applications of Bacteguard:

Kitchen

- Plastic containers, plastic dishes, chopping board

Construction Materials

- Water Tank, Paint Tank, Bathtub, Cooling tower

Footwear

- Slippers and shoes

Proofs and tests:

Suppress Odor Development

BACTEGUARD, antimicrobials can significantly contribute to reducing odor formation that result from microorganisms.

Microorganisms can break down organic materials and produce volatile foul smelling products, e.g., amines, ammonia, hydrosulfide and aldehydes. It is particularly noticeable in applications such as cutting boards, sports wear, shoe insoles and waste bins.

Reduce Biofilm Formation

BACTEGUARD, antimicrobials can help reduce biofilm formationfrom microorganisms. In the presence of nutrients, microorganisms rapidly multiply.

Depending on conditions, algae, bacteria and/or fungi can be involved. In water-contact applications such as water tanks, pipes, seals, gaskets, filters and scrubbers, a so-called biofilm formation takes place.

Eliminate Discoloration and Staining

BACTEGUARD, antimicrobials can prevent staining that result from microorganisms.

Staining can be a result of intracellular pigments of green algae, molds, bacteria or extracellular dye stuff, i.e., metabolites released by the microorganisms.
